Students take a photograph that has a science concept
illustrated. They prepare a
paragraph to describe the science in the photo.
Submit the photo electronically (.JPG format) to SDAAPT@hotmail.com
along with the paragraph by January 21, 2004. Title
the photograph. Include the name of
the student, school, school address, and science teacher’s name.
The submitted photos will be judged at the South Dakota
Science Teachers Association Winter Meeting in Huron. Participating students will receive Certificates of
Recognition and their entries will be submitted to the national AAPT photo
contest where the top photos nationally will be published in The Science
Teacher magazine.
Students will prepare a VHS video clip (no longer than five
minutes) that describes some aspect of science. Be sure the video has a title.
The VHS clip is mailed to Jerry Loomer, 435 Viking Drive, Rapid City SD
57701 so that it arrives by January 30, 2004.
Entries prepared after that date may be hand delivered to Jerry Loomer at
the Symposium Room of the Crossroads Convention Center in Huron before 7:10 PM
on February 5, 2004. Include the
name(s) of the student(s), school, school address, and science teacher’s name. Releases may be needed from any identifiable person in the
video so the videos can be shown to national audiences.
Entries will be judged at the South Dakota Science Teachers

submitted to the national AAPT video contest.
